Professional and Educational Information
- American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Founded in 1985, the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) is the national professional society representing
licensed or licensable naturopathic physicians who are graduates of four-year, residential graduates programs. Each of the
six schools in North America is either accredited, or is a candidate for accreditation by an agency of the United States Department
of Education.
- Council on Naturopathic Medical Education. The Council on Naturopathic Medical Education’s mission is quality assurance: serving the public by accrediting
naturopathic medical education programs that voluntarily seek recognition that they meet or exceed CNME’s standards.
Students and graduates of programs accredited or preaccredited (candidacy) by CNME are eligible to apply for the naturopathic
licensing examinations administered by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE), and are generally eligible
for state and provincial licensure in the U.S. and Canada
- Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. SCNM offers a four-year professional medical degree in Naturopathic Medicine accredited by the
Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME) and The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges
and Schools. Graduates are educated in the same basic sciences as MDs, including natural therapeutics and nontoxic approaches
to therapy with an emphasis on disease prevention and optimizing wellness. The beautiful campus is home to
the Southwest College Research Institute (SCRI), and the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center is located in nearby Scottsdale.
